AVCalc was established in 2014 by Alexander Vilens* to continue development, marketing and support of the ever growing in popularity, the conversions and calculations, Aqua-Calc website.  Mr. Vilens had published the very first version of the website back in 2005 to help his friends to calculate how much gravel is needed to attain a specific depth in their aquariums, hence the domain name Aqua-Calc.com.   Now the website includes more than 800,000 online calculators, conversions, reference and tutorial pages.   See Aqua-Calc  about page for detailed information about the Aqua-Calc current features and capabilities, and the news page for recent changes to Aqua-Calc website.

*Mr. Vilens is an internationally known informational technology expert with a background in physics, mathematics, and business administration.  Mr. Vilens received his M.S. degree in Physics from Odessa University in Odessa, Ukraine. He also has knowledge and experience in business management.

Mr. Vilens lives and works in New Jersey.  Since 1993, and until 2018, he had been a leading expert of “Relational Architects International.” This well-known informational technology company is based in Hoboken, New Jersey, and has multiple affiliates around the world.  Mr. Vilens is a recognized authority on checkpoint/restart for z/OS batch applications and Db2 thread management.  He is an expert in development, marketing and support of the program products which enhance IBM's z/OS, Db2, IMS and WebMQ environments with successful implementations in Fortune 1000 organizations worldwide.

Mr. Vilens is the editor of 7 books: Internet and Suicide (2009), War and Suicide (2009), Terror and Suicide (2009), Suicide in the Military (2009), Suicidal Behavior in Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Dependence (2010), Neurobiology of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (2010), and Immigration and Mental Health: Stress, Psychiatric Disorders and Suicidal Behavior Among Immigrants and Refugees (2010).

Mr. Vilens is a co-editor of the Internet and Psychiatry website, the most influential non-commercial website in the field of psychiatry.  AVCalc proudly hosts and manages the website.
